Better visibility on Google led to more inquiries for the event venue

For 25 years, the barn was a forgotten gem. In early 2020, it was given new life, and today Varnums Lada is an idyllic venue for weddings and celebrations.

— Topborn has helped us with the website and our visibility on Google. As a result, we’ve already received bookings for the next and the following season, says Rebecka, co-owner of Varnums Lada.

Surrounded by fields, lakes, and forests, Varnums Lada is located on the Kyrkarp farm, with a history dating back to the Middle Ages. The barn was stone-laid in 1908 and has since been adapted to meet the farm’s needs.

In 1995, the barn was taken out of use.

Twenty-five years later, the family — who grew up on the farm — saw new possibilities for the barn.

— Our brother was getting married, and that’s when we came up with the idea that it would be perfect to hold the wedding reception in the barn. So we simply had to start clearing it out and first remove everything that had been stored here since ’95, says Rebecka, one of the sisters in the family.

The project lasted for about three years. The siblings renovated the barn into a wedding and event venue that would also be open to the public. Much of the renovation was done by the family themselves, with some outside help.

— The whole family has been involved, and we’ve each contributed what we’re good at. One of us is an electrician, another can build, a third can paint, and a fourth focuses on ideas and details. Our mom handled the food and logistics, while the children gave us energy and kept things lively, says Rebecka.

After the renovation, the siblings realized they needed help with marketing so that others would discover the barn and even know that it existed at all. That’s when they got in touch with Topborn.

— We basically started from zero. We had no prior experience in this type of business, and therefore no existing customer base. We needed a website that matched our needs, says Emilia, co-owner and the other sister in the family.

Together with Topborn’s web developer, the siblings created a layout and design that would suit the setting and the romantic atmosphere in and around the barn.

— Today, 90 percent of the customers who reach us come through the website. Thanks to that, Topborn has also been able to optimize our visibility on Google, so when people search for venues for weddings, parties, and other events, they find us, says Rebecka.
